City staff are moonlighting and competing with the city for consulting work. This corruption exists in broad daylight at city hall - and has for years. Riley Sweeney has this exclusive story because he has been working on it for months - while the Bham Herald has been totally silent.
Coal Port and Trains
Will we soon have the world’s largest coal port in our pristine Whatcom County? It is up to us citizens to learn the facts. And stop the project. Most of our elected officials are quietly working for the coal port.

Lake Whatcom
Our drinking water source for Bellingham. We can clean up our lake or we can let it get more toxic and just add more chemicals to make it “safe” for our kids. Our choice.
CHUCKANUT RIDGE
A 100 or so acres of springs, highland swamps and pristine woodland. For 16 years a political battle has been fought over whether to develop or preserve it. NWCitizen has followed this issue since 1996.

New County Jail Planning
The planning for a new Whatcom County jail has been a backroom affair. Pete Kremen was almost forced by public opinion to hold a public Q&A meeting on Feb 3 - and an overflow audience of citizens attended. We learned more - but citizens only voice on this issue will be the ballot box in November. We will follow this issue here.
